Treatment of pediatric epilepsy

Treatment of pediatric epilepsy

Tell the child about the disease:

It is not advisable to conceal or give false information about the disease to the child.  As a result, the child becomes confused and loses motivation to lead a normal life.  Tell your child as much as you can about his or her illness.  If you are ignorant about this, try to know the correct information about the disease.  If you are unable to present accurate information to the child yourself, seek the help of an experienced person.  Explain the real situation to the child without hiding anything about it.  Explain to him the need to take medicine for this disease in the long run.

 Be positive:

Although epilepsy is a chronic disease, make sure that it does not disrupt your child's normal life.  Get rid of negative thoughts that a child with epilepsy will not be able to study or will not be able to do any creative or daily work.  Again, Abdar has to accept all the wrongs by showing compassion to the sick child রোগ not even that.  Encourage him to lead a normal, disciplined life.

Take regular medication, keep in touch with your doctor:

Epilepsy patients need to be very careful about their medication.  Regular medication should be taken at the prescribed time.  Medications cannot be stopped without the advice of a physician, even if the convulsions have stopped for several days.  Discuss the child's problem openly with the doctor and encourage the child to be open about his or her problem to the doctor.  It may take time for the medication to play an effective role or side effects may occur.  He can take necessary action if he openly informs the doctor about the problem.

 Take special care at home:

Special measures should be taken at home for the safety of the child suffering from epilepsy.  Such as
প The paved floor of the house can be covered with soft carpet.  Pads can be placed under the carpet so that the baby does not get any serious injuries even if he suddenly falls unconscious.  It is better to use vinyl cushions, cork or rubber in the bathroom and kitchen.
Keep stairs dry and clean.  Carpets can be placed at the base of the stairs for extra safety.
 ● If an elevator is used, the risk can be reduced by using pads inside the elevator.
মু Cover furniture with sharp edges with pads, rubber, foam or cloth, so that the child is not injured by those sharp edges during convulsions.  Or use round corner furniture.  Use a chair with a handle.  Keep chairs-tables and other furniture away from the bed.
কিছু Place a cushion or mattress around the baby's bed so that the baby does not roll over and fall out of bed.  Make sure that the bed of the infected child is not too high.
ভালো It is better to bathe the baby under the shower while sitting without taking a bath in the bathtub or swimming pool.  For some older children who bathe on their own, the bathroom door should not be locked from the inside while bathing.  It is better not to have a latch or lock in the bathroom.  The door should be such that it opens to the outside of the bathroom.
Make sure that the child is tired, does not watch television or play computer games.  The room that has a TV or computer should have adequate lighting.  Decrease the brightness of the monitor.

 Sports Alert:

Having epilepsy does not mean taking a break from all the joys of life.  With caution, children with epilepsy can participate in any sport as common as other children.  However, it is better to use a safety helmet if necessary.  Caution should be exercised when swimming, fishing, boating or playing near the water.  Because, at this time, if the convulsions arise and drown in the water, there is a threat to life.  Therefore, it is best to have a caregiver who is fully aware of the child's epilepsy.  Avoid risky sports, such as mountain climbing, parachute jumps, etc.  Cycling should not be allowed for at least six months even after convulsions have subsided.

In the case of school-going children:

Don't hide your child's epilepsy from the school authorities.  Let the school authorities know what medicine the patient is getting, the address-phone number of the patient's doctor, your phone number etc.  If necessary, provide detailed knowledge about epilepsy to the school authorities and concerned teachers.  In that case, the school authorities will be able to take the necessary action if there is any seizures during the school day.  Many epileptic children may have trouble understanding reading in class.  If the school-teacher knows about the disease, he or she will be able to help you more with your child's learning problems.

Encourage your sick child to mix with other children at school.  Let classmates and their parents know that epilepsy is not a contagious disease.  Invite classmates home so that they can get acquainted with the normal life of the family environment while the epilepsy patient is healthy.
